On Friday, April 17, 2015, our group hiked up to Little Yosemite, a formation of rocks and water that is reminiscent of Yosemite. In the picture you can just make out 2 hikers at the bottom, which gives some perspective on the size of the rocks. It is a favorite spot to hike to because the Camp Ohlone road is well maintained and a fairly easy hike. From there, we went on Canyon View trail which gives a lovely view of the surrounding hills and small canyons. The hills were still green and covered with wildflowers. We could also see the work being done on the new dam being built to the south. Canyon View trail is mostly single track and winds gently up hill until it meets McCorkle trail that leads back to the parking lot.
The day was one of the warmest we have had this spring with clear skies and no wind. In other words, perfect. We hiked about 2.6 miles, which is a good distance for our group. This may be the last we will see of green grass this summer, so we feel grateful to be able to enjoy it in parks so close to home.
