Iron Horse Trail, Pleasanton

East Bay Regional Parks have added to the Iron Horse Trail. The new section was opened a few weeks ago, so on Aug. 22nd, our group decided to give it a try, and find out what it was like.
We started at a park at the intersection of Stoneridge Drive and Las Positas in Pleasanton. The trail is paved and beautifully landscaped. It winds through an area of apartment buildings and business parks. We met people walking to work from BART, mothers pushing baby strollers, kids riding bikes and scooters, and families biking just for fun.
The trail connects with the older part of the Iron Horse Trail at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station. Now the trail extends from Pleasanton to Concord, about 30 miles. It seems to be a good alternative to driving, as well as offering exercise to its users.
