Coyote Hills 2014

What a surprise!  Usually we get to see shore birds of all sorts in the marshes and ponds.  Today, we found dead reeds and desert like conditions with dried, cracked pond bottoms and ducks swimming in what little water there is left.  We knew we were in a drought, but this really brought it clearly into focus.  Even the bay looked low and chocked with water plants.

We hiked our usual trail, with one exception.  We went inland, over a hill instead of going around by the shore.  It was a nice change.  The 3.6 miles makes for a good outing.  We are hoping the rains will start soon, even if that means we won’t be able to hike.Image
