On Friday, June 14th we decided to hike close to home at Brushy Peak. Brushy Peak is an East Bay Regional Park that has several trails of varying length and difficulty. We started hiking at 9 a.m. on the West Loop Trail. The weather was clear, but windy. This trail is a steady climb that will go around the peak or along a gravel road and past a pond back to the parking lot. Our group decided to split with 2 of us going by the peak and the others going by the pond. The peak trail was 4.5 miles and took us 2.5 hours. The others finished earlier. It is very good to have a park that allows a group to tailor the hike to their needs on that particular day.
