Hiking at Lafayette Reservoir

Today we hiked at a beautiful East Bay MUD reservoir near Lafayette.  There is a paved trail that goes around the perimeter of the reservoir which we followed for about 1/2 mile, then we took one of the trails up to the Rim Trail, which also goes around the lake, only higher up. Then we returned to lake level to finish the walk.  We had warm weather, clear skies, and wonderful views of Mt. Diablo and the lake.  We saw wild turkeys, a couple of white pelicans, and a blue heron, along with other water birds.  Our total distance was about 4 miles and we were having lunch by 12:00.  This is a very well-used park with walkers, runners, pram pushers, and dog walkers.  There were fewer people on the Rim Trail.  Image
